And Then, It Was Over

It was a little chilly at our Track Banquet yesterday, but the food was good and so was the company. Amidst the angst of Finals Week, the fact that most of us were able to get together one last time as a team to share a meal and acknowledge the accomplishments that each of us had made was nice. We had an exceptional year and a lot of progress was made by all. We really should be proud of what we overcame this year. Even with some big time points lost, we were still dominant.

Congratulations to all of those that received awards! You deserve it!

The One That Got Delayed

Well, the OAC Meet is over. A lot of people ran their last race, threw their last discus or jumped their last jump. That doesn't matter, though because it was all worth it. It was worth the struggles throughout the years; it was worth the highs and the lows of their track and field careers because on the day of the OAC Meet, for one last time... They were in the spotlight.

The Men and the Women finished 2nd overall to some school whose colors are purple.. or something. But the real winners were those wearing Brown and White. For as bad as the weather was this weekend, I felt like we were a team for the first time. No matter what event you went to, a Yellow Jacket was there to bring you up to speed. That's how it is supposed to be.

So, for my last blog of the regular season... To those that are finished, I say great job and it was a pleasure watching you compete/competing with you. To those still training for a National Meet, I say good luck. I will be there until you leave for California, for I am broke and therefore, can't go :(

Day One

The first day of the conference meet has come to an end... finally.

Lots of Personal Bests today in the 200m dash and the Throws as well. Special shout out to Kaylan Lemon, Zac Marinucci, Mitch Supan, Jake Buckey, Mickey Haba and myself. Working hard throughout the entire season always pays off when you set a Personal or Lifetime Best at a Conference meet, so good job to all that competed today.

Day 2 should be just as exciting and I know many of us are especially looking forward to the relays. So, good luck to all and get some sleep. We have work to do tomorrow.

Partner in Crime

Well... It's a little late to go back on it now.

In honor of the legendary Steve Prefontaine, I am sporting the muttonchops and the mustache/soul patch combo (per the request of Coach Eric Schmuhl). However, I was not alone this time like I was at Indoor OACs!

This is Mickey Haba..

He may not have much facial hair and constantly envies mine, but we made it work. He is sporting a zigzag/lightning bolt chin strap. I don't know how you guys feel about it, but I am thinking about testing this one out myself at some point in time (when my beard grows back).

With the help of Dannie Mack, we were able to come up with this. We hope that you all enjoy them.

My man, Dannie Mack

We are always having good times on this Track Team and we are looking to make a statement tomorrow. If not by our performance, then by our extraordinary facial hair.

Go Pre.

A Close Shave

In honor of the OAC Meet this weekend, I will be making a fool of myself to show team spirit. I have only had 4 people suggest what I should do to my beard, so it is going to come down to the wire and be a gametime decision tonight. Tomorrow morning, I will no longer have a voluptuous beard.

See you all at breakfast in the morning :)

I Mustache You a Question...

I won't shave it for later.

Many of you know that for the OAC Meet last year, a group of the guys did Mohawks. This year, for Indoor OACs, I donned a mustache of the utmost quality that it made Tom Selleck jealous.

Now, for Outdoor OACs this season, I have been contemplating what I should do. My beards is longer than it has ever been and I am not sure if I want to do anything to embarrass myself. However, I am open to any and all ideas. So, allow me to pose this one question...

What should I do with my beard (if anything) for the OAC Meet this weekend?

Post with pictures of the style of your choice to cast your vote! The facial hair with the most votes will appear on my face for Thursday night's dinner and will remain on my face until Sunday.

Sparky Adams

Ladies and Gents, it is the moment we have all been waiting for...

Our one and only Home Track Meet is this Saturday! Events start at 9:00a.m.
For the Full Meet Schedule, visit http://www.bw.edu/athletics/otf/sched/ and scroll down to April 21st (click Event Schedule)

Encourage family, friends, professors, and all to come and support you and your teammates as we represent our school by Steamrolling our competition (let's be honest, they know it is gonna happen, too). I know that the weather isn't looking good right now, but at the end of the day.. You are already home. Let's try and get a good turn out this year by spreading the word!

**Special thanks goes out to Mitch Supan, Kevin Phipps, Leslie Purnell, Zac Marinucci and Ryan Fallow for making our Shot Put Ring look B-E-A-utiful!**

The Long Jump Pits have been tilled, the Shot Put Sector is clean and painted, the Javelin sectors have been painted, our banners are up and the grass is cut. Finnie Stadium is ready. The only thing left for us to do is compete and compete well.

Let's get after it this weekend!
